Quinn started releasing music as SPSC in 2018, writing, recording, mixing, mastering (somewhat), everything himself.
Quinn suffers from chronic bouts of sleep paralysis, a condition wherein the mind wakes while the body stays asleep, the inversion of sleep walking, if you will. In this broken wakefulness, the mind wanders and creates visions and sensations of things that do not exist from the limited data available: a shadow cast from a streetlight becomes the shape of a person standing in the corner, the whirr of a fan becomes the sinister whispers of all the ways you can die. It's a bad time.
In January of 2025, Quinn released the full-length album "Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea," recorded between mid-2024 and the first weeks of 2025. The album was born out of an extended period of grief and loss in Quinn's life, while recovering from a traumatic brain injury and trying to navigate the breakneck speed with which life happens to us. Quinn played everything on the album, mixing and mastering it himself, as well. At the insistence of friends, Quinn reached out for the first time to help bring these songs to a live setting, as loud as the songs and the people for whom they were written deserve.
Joining Quinn as the first non-Quinn members of SPSC are Charlie Mahoney, Adam Kury, and Bobby Finley.
